how to remove this? it's inside the lens, so I can't delete it. It shows up in images as just a regular dust spot

let Canon certified store fix it?

Never had problems like this with my nikon zooms. Did have this in a sigma lens.

They didnt clean it out before assembly

this is why you switch to nikon z. every lens that costs more than $300 is weather sealed. only the cheapest toy plastic lenses aren't.
compare to canon where only the car-priced L-lenses (L stands for luxury) are weather sealed. the mid range lenses (those actually affordable to normal people) aren't.

it's funny. even the Z 24-70 f4 kit zoom that came with my z6ii is dust free (because it's weather sealed)

Even sony lenses are. Everything that’s labeled G at least, which is everything that isnt a dirt cheap starter lens (by sony standards). That’s like if canon had a designation below L that wasnt pixel peeler perfect but still well made. Oh, and the majority of sigma and tamron lenses are also fully weather sealed. And almost every fuji lens (granted they are sony G expensive). Go figure.

I bought a brand new RF 24-70 and it had a rather large speck of debris under one of the first elements. Got a replacement and now that one has some dust in it as well and it got there in about half a year or so.

OP here, i looked on photograohy stores to see if i could just buy a new lens since this lens came with my camera when i bought it in 2013.

Holy fuck new lenses are expensive now!!! my camera+18-135 kit costed 600 usd. Now the cheapest zoom lens cost 700 usd and the next cheapest cost 1100 usd. What the fuck.

Should i get it repaired instead? surely that cant cost that much?

didn't know that. but I've been keeping away from sony becuse of the terrible ergonomics, menus and puke colors. nowadays I hear only good things about snoy. I always liked the snoy shutter noise (which I hate on my Z6II, but love on my GX8). I should check out snoy maybe.

I agree with you on IBIS (it's a marketing meme) and body size (because lens size is the limiting factor anyway). But weather sealing is absurdly good if you're living anywhere with real season. (Like in Europe). I can carry my Z6II around in rain, snow and not care about it. The short time I've been shooting a PEN-F I had to watch out for rain and shit which was annoying because winter here is more like monsoon season.
Weather sealing should be a standard feature on all cameras. It's that useful. Comes right behind light metering and auto focus imho.

the kit lens that came with your camera is like the free hit you get from drug dealers. it's meant to suck you in and then buy some real shit.

Colours are one of the most accurate now according to tests, and the new menu system is a huge improvement
However ergos are always going to be hugely personal but once the a9iii body is standard across all offerings that should fix most complaints, though I'd say it got usable from the a7iv body already
