alas his cat was not such a fellow lodger, equal, or anything, it was a dumb animal that naturally evolved to live alongside humans, primarily in their buildings, never being meant to leave them as doing so has a way of cutting their lifespans incredibly short and making no use of their adaptations acquired since they were once wild animals.
animals are never free. neither are humans, humans can never be free before death, only overcome with hubris. you think they are broody anprim virgins like yourself who experience angst and psychological suffering like they believe they were created by god to be a certain way, but they are not. they just want food, shelter, and a life without pain. that's because you're autistic and don't actually have empathy/theory of mind. if you think the dogs are suffering because you have to follow rules and dislike them, please go be homelesss in the woods before telling us what the dogs would prefer. don't forget to attack some sheep in desperation and get shot!
