>>4279263Been using the S5 for the last 1.5 years and I absolutely love it, especially for video. But been slowly using it more for photos than my trusty D600.
I've been a Nikon guy for 13 years (still think they have the best optics) and still am.
Been adapting lens on it, both Nikon and more recently Canon since they adapt much better (AF, electronic comm).
Have both the Sigma Mc-21 adapter and the Fotodiox adapter for canon (got both for sick deals on ebay). The sigma seemes to work best with newer sigma and canon lenses (can confirm that pre 2010s sigma don't autofocus properly). The fotodiox works better with some older Canon lens IME. I mainly use it with the Canon 70-210 3.5-4.5.
I've also been with panasonic's m43 for the last 8 years. Was going to sell my GH5 to pay for ths S5, but decided to keep it as a B cam.
The S5 basically feels like a fullframe version of the GH5. And the GH5 is a phenominal cam on it's own.
If you have invested good glass into you M43 system, I might recommend the GH5 (or GH6).
Otherwise the S5 can hold its own very well.
If you want lighter weight, stick with canon lenses (or native pany lens) since they're usually plastic. And Canon adapts pretty well (when it works).
Nikon glass can usually be found a lot cheaper used.
Also absolutely recommend getting the 20-60 kit lens if you get the S5. Its an incredibly sharp lens and focuses very fast. Sadly its just a slow lens. Great for outdoor lighting though.
