Okay so I'm new to film photography and I've been lurking here and youtube for a bit. I keep seeing videos and posts about "I'd never start shooting with Portra400 its so expensive and unaffordable. I'd start with something cheap like Kodak Gold or if you really can't afford it, black and white film."
So I think "lets go with the gold then" I check out the price
>Its $13 a 36 shot roll
okay that seems pretty reasonable, lets go check out that super expensive Portra stuff
>its $14 a 36 shot roll
Oh, well those aren't that different, lets look at the super cheap black and white
>its $12 a 36 shot roll
Am I tripping for thinking that a dollar difference isn't that big of a deal? Is it a regional thing? Are film photographers that poor? Did prices like super recently change? Does it just super add up over time? It just really doesn't seem that crazy price wise
