I dunno what to tell you, it really is as simple as looking around
but to at least try and be helpful: don't use a nifty fifty, it kinda requires you to shot scenes that are interesting on their own in their entirety(with some allowance for zooming with your feet) and finding them can be tricky, particularly if you're not interested in/not allowed to do street photography
if you want to shoot more landscape/scenery type photos, a wide angle to introduce more dramatic angles and to hide imperfections is good
if you want to shoot smaller scenes where the composition is the key bring a short telephoto that will allow you to cut out and isolate the aesthetic bit from the noise
my favorites are 24mm(but I'd go for something closer to 20mm if I was buying today) and 135mm
second piece of advice, is that light is key, so going outside in the middle of the day might be shit, but if you go at dawn or just before sunset you might find the scenery transformed
dawn is probably the easiest with the early morning fog and dew
