No, painted bedsheets. Sometimes its painted burlap. Sometimes it's just paper.

People actually pay a premium for splatter painted burlap.

Okay. thanks very kindly, Anon. Actually just watched a tutorial for how to paint something like this. I wonder if the backing paper is necessary if the photos are being taken indoors and against a solid wall, anyway. Probably not lol.
