To the feminine poser, art is feminine and schizophrenic, thus having a mind compatible with real facts makes you less of a real artist. Sensibility and artistry are opposed, so goes the dichotomy you need to accept before you can accept the garbage a bunch of investment schemers call art these days - after centuries of most artists having some engineering or scientific talent.
Art is actually a masculine and high IQ activity and they fear the specs because they know if they are not as masculine and high IQ as they have to be, they will get caught up in the specs and worse the social implications of the specs. It's like a level they can't advance beyond.
The superior brain sees specs, considers them, and moves past them quickly, making the correct decision:
Cameras: Canikon full frame, Phase one "medium" format, 4x5+ film in a view camera
Lenses: Variety, no exclusions
Like there aren't many brush makers worth caring about but infinite paints, there's not much in cameras to really care about either, but infinite lenses. Most of the boutiques and off brands are mere distractions and budget decisions but not really because you'll spend that money later anyways when your shitty fuji breaks in the rain.
