>>4311607Because the contrast detect is fine for what OP wants to shoot, they are about 2/3rds of the price of those more expensive cameras, the video is going to be basically the same quality as far as a beginner is concerned and S1 is the camera I'd buy today if I wanted a hybrid camera. I love the body, I really wish it would have been successful and started a trend of DSLR style mirrorless bodies.
People like to pretend the autofocus is bad when it's not. Just because it doesn't keep with Sony/Canon doesn't mean it's bad. It's still better than most people will ever need. I have cameras with significantly worse auto focus systems and they are still more than good enough.
