>>4312814It depends on the storm activity. It is like photographing a billowing curtain where some areas are really active (directly overhead) and will look like a haze even with 2.5-3 seconds. In that situation only video does it justice and that's tough to do short of something like an A7S with a 1.4.
2-3 seconds is a good rule of thumb but worth playing around with shutter speeds if you are going to be out there a couple hours. Going to try .5 to 1s myself tonight and crank the iso on my micro four turds.
>>4312843NTA but yeah, wider is typically better. Depends on your area and composition but 24mm and wider should have you covered. If you have a smartphone with night mode, that's pretty fun - honestly the only time I've enjoyed using the smartphone camera.
