>>4315726>>4315730I used to do confocal microscopy and some of the objectives for those scopes are $12k+, we'd clean them with 80-20 EtOH/MetOH and kimwipes since dentatured alcohol got shipped to us in bulk super fucking cheap. The Zeiss people said it was fine
it depends on how the coating is applied but:
#1, the coating, at least for Nikon "N" lenses, is not on any lens element that's even vaguely reachable without completely disassembling the lens
#2, most lens coatings are probably either put on with vapor deposition or some kind of hardcore solvent and are not alcohol soluble
just use isopropanol if you're paranoid
