>>4331673Cool thanks.
>>4331783I don't do much color work I'm afraid, so I can't advise you much. Fuji and DxO profiles both give me really good starting points. The lens does matter though, as some of the effects are harder to emulate in post e.g.: flare patterns, contrast/bokeh transition zones, color shift patterns, etc.
>>4331823>Just purposely handicapping yourself?I guess so. Issues that don't exist anymore are fun to work around sometimes; I do enjoy the process more. I also specifically wanted an Unar, AND I had to try the lens out first to make sure it decently covers 44x33, so availability kinda narrowed it down to this particular lens. Its effects (radial smearing/swirls, sharpness falloff, soap bubble bokeh, etc) also work really well for portraits. I may well tire of it eventually and get a GF lens, but I don't really feel the itch yet.
>>4331883I'm not a lens designer so I couldn't say for sure, but it's definitely got something to do with Unar's layout. A cooke triplet (the most popular is the meyer optik trioplan) can also get you nice bubbles.

See y'all again tomorrow maybe
