If Nikon makes the Z6III/Z7III near-Z8 sized, and fails to bring the Z6II/Z7II autofocus up to the same standards as the sony a7iii and first gen EOS R (they are still less accurate and slower even in single point), it is over for Nikon. Remember peopled paid A7IV/A7RIV/R6II/R5 prices for the Z6II and Z8 and Z lenses are not exactly cheap either. Just "cheaper" in a few categories like being insistent on weather sealing on a cheap 50mm f1.8 (sony and canon oddly do not do this, probably wasnt worth their money since adventure photographers always use zooms or pro lenses)

I have never seen a camera brand crash and burn this hard. Even olympus persisted in a niche, and pentax's only failing was not having R&D money. Nikon it seems is dying of self inflicted wounds via incompetence and market blindness. They spent their whole budget on making the 50mm f1.8s slightly sharp and regressed in AF performance going from d750/d850 to z6ii/z7ii. Then they remove the shutter from the DSLR sized Z8 which has APS-C like noise performance. Why does Nikon want to go out of business so badly? I keep seeing market share charts with them being beat by fuji/olympus who make objectively shitty cameras that can't compare to FF and bayer even on phone screens. Imagine being that bad. Sony has flaws that piss autists off but nikon has flaws that make their cameras seem unusable compared to their competitors and even their own legacy products. Ho-lee-fuck.
