full frame, aps-c? what kind of night photography? You can get cheap fast chinese fast lenses. Some korean ones as well. Mostly manual focus if you want really cheap.

Oh good someone else made a thread so I didn't have to. I have a Sony a 3000 which aps-c my kit lens broke so I need to replace it. I have a telephoto lens so I need it under 50 mm. I want something either for macro or like 20 ft max shooting.

Sony 30mm (45mm equiv) 3.5 macro. It's around $100 on eBay or $150 if you are impatient. The kit lenses are nice to have even if they aren't as nice quality. The later kit lens, the 16-50mm is famous for its low quality but I still like it since it weighs nothing and 24-75 equiv is a great range

For OP, you can get 35mm 1.4 MF chinese APS-C lenses on eBay for $75.

Sigma 30/2.8. For macro — there are none lol. The closest thing is A-mount 30/2.8 DT that you can mount with an adapter. Old enlarger lenses are nice for macro but I doubt that there are ones about 30mm.

30/3.5 is DOGSHIT. 16-50 is just shit, never buy it outside a kit a body from which you can immediately sell for the same price.

Key word is cheap and the guy is using an a3000. The 30/3.5 isn't dogshit at all but I wouldn't recommend it for macro in general because of working distance. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4322909

Presumably he's used the a3000 kit lens and was fine with it until it broke so the 16-50 would also serve well if he can get it cheap. Absolutely not worth the retail but for $50, it's got worth it imo.

I used the 18-55 the thing came with forever. I bought a 16-50 that was a power zoomed. I honestly don't use it for professional purposes so I am trying to keep it under $150. I am probably just going to go on amazon and buy some shitty cheap lenses.
