>>4328268I didn't mind paying slightly more for the 8-element version because I didn't want to mess around with de-yellowing the thoriated element. Green fringing can be annoying, but it's not too bad with green backdrops (and a non-issue entirely in B&W).

I have a pair of more modern zoom lenses that I can use if I'm taking photos for others, but I've been slowly changing my prime collection over to mostly older glass. I know it's a bit of a meme, but I really am digging my Contax Zeiss collection. I have found that they can start approaching a clinical quality when stopped down far enough, but look wonderful when wide open or only slightly closed.
