Someone took this picture of my dog and I think it looks really cool. I was wondering what is it that causes that "cinematic" effect where anything behind the subject is blurred. I am particularly interested in this because I want to get into videography and want some shots with this particular style. How can I replicate this in video format?
(I'm guessing that it is at least somewhat related with the lens that is being used. I currently have a Cannon M50 with the "normal" 15-45mm lens. I've looked up a couple of tutorials online for this "cinematic" effect but it is barely noticeable (perhaps it's the camera or the lens, or maybe I'm looking in the wrong place and it has to do more with post). I should also probably mention that I'm mostly interested in recording up-close shots like this one, though some long shots would also be nice.)
Thoughts? Any guidance is appreciated, even if it is totally unrelated to what I just wrote.
