Does ""color science"" really exist?
Or is it just different color profile in the firmware.
Considering that Sony makes all the sensors these days... Question is, do other manufacturers of camera order some special snowflake filter, or just use off-the-shelf sony part.

To my surprise, the hot mirror plays a significant role in color science. So if you IR convert your camera and then try to shoot normally with an IR blocking filter, your colors won't be exactly the same as they were with the original hot mirror. I'm guessing the precise makeup of the CFA also has a large impact.

So yes, color science is real and each manufacturer seems to have a "look". You can typically calibrate it out >>4343199, but it's in the hardware.

I don't think they used off-the-shelf sony sensor. They could have used custom color CFA filter array. Or just better firmware.

CFA, hot mirror, firmware, profile…same sensor != same colors.

You can get great results from anything. But I always felt like Sony and Nikon (to a lesser extent) needed more color correction than Canon or Fuji.

Its fourth order distilled internet memes you got from reviewers that praise everything but the one company that stopped paying them (usually sony or panasonic)

Fuji colors are actual fucking dogshit. They were only a thing when inaccurate desaturated orange and blue were a trend on some gay social media website

blind comparison tests for color are pretty interesting, people often cant reliably pick brands based off color
color is completely malleable if you intend to post process, and you can find good and bad color shots with every brand, people will nitpick every brand's color too

Damn, I'm glad I played it safe and payed the extra money for kolari to turn the hot mirror they took off my camera into the IR filter.

This is not even your opinion.
You are just correct. They are. It's a factual statement based on evidence, both anecdotal, lab tested, and as literally part of the design.

There are more green photosites in fuji tranny than there are in bayer. This, while can sometimes yield less moire/artifacting, has a direct affect on loss of color fidelity since it's capturing less color information to begin with. Bayer is already heavily green biased so giving further weight to greens only worsens things. As a result, fuji indeed has inferior color. Not because of manufacturing tolerances, special meme autism, lens coatings, software, whatever.. but just because of the sensor layout.
Fuji bayer (which do exist) can be fine. Most of their current offerings however are x-trans and that's why fuji is a meme now.

Anyone saying otherwise is a shill or a retard.
