nta but f4.5 shouldn't be the target market for anyone. f2 or f1.8 should be the least wide anyone is willing to go on any lens. Buying this slow slop is why manufacturers keep pushing slower and slower glass.

you can just make out the focusing peg/lever thing on the bottom left of the lens there. it's actually rangefinder coupled and will focus on an M body. I have one, it's fun.

i think there's certainly a use case for these lenses, if you're just shooting in daylight bright scenes only where you'd never use anything faster than f4 anyway, things like that. that lets you have these quirky small and cheap lenses. You aren't some kind of poorfag that can't afford to also buy a proper fast lens, are you?

That's traditional, because then you basically don't have to focus (assuming you pre-focus to about 15ft out, your DOF is to infinity.)

I own an a7c and might try it on it, but I'm more thinking of putting it on an older NEX for a pocket point and shoot thats not 600-800 dollars.

It really is, especially when the grip is uncomfortable to use aside from quick snapshits. I've tested every xpro shortly after release because the hybrid VF seems neat, but I would not be able to use it comfortably without an additional grip which adds even more bulk. It might be fine if you keep it on a strap all the time or have small hands, but I'm neither of those.

One of the reasons you can make the lens a 3.5 is because that greatly reduces its size, and you need fewer elements to correct aberration etc. The Zeiss 45 mm had just three elements and I believe was a Sonnar design

obviously no one is out there shooting at f1.2 holding their camera with 1 hand (like freaks do now) but you get the idea. especially since back then "wide open" meant f2.8 along with poorer IQ from haze/glare and most street photographers were zone focusing at f8 or more

See, it's funny, because when I search this guy, what I see is what I saw in my mind's eye, which is a typical 'street' image with 100% of the image in sharp focus (picrel) so I'd guess at least f6
