Give it to me straight, what types of photography do and do *not* make money?
I don't care about making enough to work full time - I have a great day job - but I do want opportunities to work with good people/subjects and have a casual income; even 5-10k a year would a be success in my mind
In general, it seems anything that involves people generally attracts more interest than stuff like wildlife/landscapes, which are certainly beautiful, but it's hard for people to get invested in them since they are not part of the art. Is this true?
Apart from wildlife, I like taking shots of any kind of performing artists since I'm a classical musician myself. The issue is finding artists who aren't broke OR ones who work for a big company (most of which are going bankrupt here in Australia)
