This is my favorite type of photography to shoot, and I've been doing it for 20 years now. I shoot very differently than these photos. Normally the venues I am in have way less ambient light, you'd never be able to see a wall or ceiling. Venues like in these pictures with some lighting give you nearly infinite flexibility in how you present your subjects.
In most venues, you have to be more aware of the light sources. You need you subjects lit in some way, and you need to know if the lights are going to be pointed at you, or be right next to the subject, as you and them move during the show.
These pictures also use flash, which is really annoying for 100% of people at the show, including the musicians, and it's a low skill move. It helps get pictures, but it sets a low bar for potential. You would get kicked out of venues for using the flash, so these must be a basement / garage show.
