Apparently enough.

Millions of people legitimately thought she was using an obscure film camera for her IG feed snapshits and trying to figure out if there were some settings on their fuji they missed. It was actually the lowest end camera olympus makes with the built in flash, a default filter, and the single shittiest kit zoom on micro four thirds.

I prefer the all-metal body, especially the tripod mount, which is a known flaw on the mark III. Also I just think it looks better with the actual flash sync port instead of black LED surround, I like the mode dial on the left with four perfectly placed Fn buttons on the right by the shutter instead of 2 on the right and 2 all the way on the left that you'll never use, and vastly prefer the amount of autistic customization and PASM remapping the MySet system allows, which was removed on the 5.3 in favor of a single Custom position. IMO you're correct though that the EM1.2 is a better choice than either.

Also I'm assuming a Youtuber did a video on EM5.2s or something because looking at eBay they've all shot up in price compared to just earlier this year and are no longer a good deal at all now that the prices are on par with the EM1.2.

4 more mp when the pixel pitch was already nearly the same as a sony a7rv can ask a lot of lenses that are already basically on the edge of what they can provide nicely. it reveals additional aberrations like bokeh fringing and coma that do not merely resize out.

a lot of the long/lat CA issues of common MFT lenses would be totally invisible on 24mp FF sensors or require pixel peeping - mft is a crop, it's already pixel peeping

It is. But, m43 is better with primes. Pretty much all of the Olympus and Voigtlander primes are really good, except the olympus 20mm pro.

Then why was the common consensus that mft going ro 20 and then 24 mp in the case of the lumix a good thing? It seems to me the issues youre referring to occur in unique use cases. Like what type of lenses are we talking? Super long rang stuff where your subject is tiny and you're cropping a lot, like insect macro? Birds? Astrophotography?
