How do I remove this ring on the lens? It is a lot more stuff than when I purchased it a few years back. Am I better of taking to a pro?

You don't.

No. Paying someone to work on it is a waste of money. You are better off selling it and buying new one. Cameras of that design are disposable. Cash out now and move on.

Nope. It's an overpriced shitty camera. That's why it was discontinued. Many users had problems that required repairs. Ironically you are better off buying a Canon bridge camera at walmart. They will last longer and be less prone to problems.
