Maybe an unpopular opinion but if it's bright enough out shooting action in A is fine. At a certain point you simply have enough speed and 1/1000 vs 1/4000 won't really change anything.

The battery needs to get cracked back open because the voltage regulator doesn't provide enough amperage for the camera to operate right now. It powers up but when you actuate the shutter it goes into an infinite power surge and the rewind motor starts clicking like a starter motor.
