i have become a burnt out fuck up. i don't even know what is my subject anymore. it's a constant barrage of nothing and same old things...

find new subjects, traveling is the easiest way. if you just try to photograph somthing in the same places all the time you end up like a street photographer or building corner guys

You have arrived at the starting line op well done.
This is where you get to the point of stopping mindlessly snapshitting or copying others and actually start thinking what to shoot.
You ideally want to come up with a project. Maybe a few projects, art nudes, some specific species of bird in your area, bird silhouettes at dusk, a million possibilities.
Then you just tunnel vision on your project and suffer for your art, but at least you end up with something meaningful.

Also zero chance you figure your project on your first attempt, so just get some projects going, review after a bit why it worked or didn’t, figure new projects, over time you will find your thing.

when i get in this slump as well i make a sort of shopping list of things i wanna get pictures of by the end of the month and it makes it almost like a challenge for myself going out and usually inspires more pics along the way. alltrails is a really good app to have an excuse to do some nature shoots. i also like going to really shitty run down areas with homeless people because you will always see some weird shit and it feels like an rpg navigating through drug zombies

I feel you. I live on the countryside up here in the great north, can't really travel, starved for light now as winter comes up and there is nothing I haven't photographed already. I'd love to do more nighttime photos, but there is nothing except a few buildings around here and one of them just went out of business.

Buy a flash. You can do really cool horror movie looking stuff at night in that type of rural location.

It’s projecting a lot of light a long distance, can see from the shadows whatever the source, it’s right at the camera.

Ok update after looking at other photos it’s something off the camera which is way brighter than a camera flash. You would have to experiment.

Briscoepark, its basically just buying a $1000 torch and walking around abandoned rural america at 2am.
The torch rabbithole is intense, I cannot believe how much light modern torches can pump out.

do you want to walk through knee deep water in some swamp in alabama at 2am with god knows what wildlife around photographing old buildings who knows who lives in.

He has heaps of videos online which is one benefit of the torch thing, its good for video.
