autists theory of mind is kind of disconnected from the rest of their thought and has to be consciously used with mental effort, like normal people have to put mental effort into doing math, so they fail at basic tasks like understanding that other people don't know what they do, and understanding that their opinions are just opinions and other preferences are valid. it is a deficit in logic that they must meditate on to overcome.
