pic related is a style of bird portraits I keep seeing, some (but not all) coming from this same.

Compositionally it's nothing special but the lighting and detail just eludes me. It almost looks like studio lighting to me although the catchlight suggests it's just an oblique light source, probably just soft sunrise light. Background is obviously edited.

Also the level of detail is pretty unreal, or is that just cause I have shit glass.

Help a noob out boys?
