how to use flash on a P exposure point and shoot camera

I got a Lomo LC-Wide.
It is an auto-exposure camera, min f4.5, with a flash shoe.
I have control over the ISO setting.

How do i use flash?
Suppose i have a ISO100 film. Would i set the camera to ISO200 (underexpose by 1) and set my automatic flash to ISO200 also, and hope that the flash + the autoexposure will combine 1:1 to get an ISO100 exposure?

Aperture and distance is used to control flash strength. Setting a higher iso would only alter flash strength if it changed the aperture and not the shutter speed.

The camera is full auto for exposure, there is no control of the aperture. The logic of setting a higher ISO on the camera was so the camera wouldn't fully expose the film and then have flash overexpose past that. I would suppose that whatever shutter speed it chooses the lighting situation would be dark enough to force the camera to use it's widest aperture of f4.5. Then on the flash (mine is a vivitar auto thyristor 3700) i can use the sliding scale to put it to a 1-stop faster iso on the sliding scale to effectively fill flash to 1-stop under. Pick a flash strength that assumes a f-stop of near f4.5 on the camera.

If your only light source is the flash you'll need to increase the iso until you have a fast shutter speed to reduce motion blur.

It will be weird to use a flash as a 50% fill for example because you'll be guesstimating and hoping it has the right settings for the flash to provide however much exposure you want.

Does it tell you what shutter speed/aperture it has selected at least?

I'm not afraid of motion blur caused by slow shutter because the flash will freeze it anyways.

Yeah so I think I'll have the camera underexpose by 1 stop and the flash filling at exact exposure. I think worst case it will be overexposed by a halfstop.

Set the iso to 25 (or cover the light sensor) and hope for the camera to shoot at wide open aperture, then set your flash exposure after that.

Alternatively just wing it and fire the flash at 100% with no modifications to the settings. Leaf shutters sync with the flash at all speeds and negative film handles overexposure fine.

depends on if the camera has speeds that long, some point n shoots dont and just underexposes the image if you dont use flash
