You do not need a 50mm f1.8. It is a shitty cope lens that was standardized by primitive optics design practices and the overabundance of SLRs on which it is an easy focal length to make work. f1.8 isn't even that fast. A "fast" prime is f1.4 and sharp wide open. If not sharp, it is called an effect lens. Get a 40 or 35 that's not fast, or a 24 or 35 that is hella fast.
The 100-400 is ok for taking snapshits of birds.
