Best long term physical medium?

No.4389137 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Whats the best longterm physical medium to have prints made on?

Ive already checked the wiki here and on reddit but havent found an answer on this. Google wasnt helping much either and I have very limited time to pour into this specific niche.

For Christmas this year one of the gifts to my wife/children will be a photo album of our first two years so far as our soon to be 3 year old is currently absolutely in love with seeing pictures of himself when he was younger but we are limiting his screentime as much as we can, and my wife is just a very sentimental down to earth kind of gal who would adore a gift like this.

I dont want to half ass it though, and if the stars align that I can continue this trend every year and keep the physical copies in good care Id hops that my children can share these memories and physical photos with their children later down the line. However if the "best" physical medium is going to cost an arm and a leg per individual print, obviously I cant do that for multiple photobooks worth of pictures.

This leads to the question of, what physical medium do I use for a long lasting photo book? Every archival question I looked for just lead to people talking about digital archiving.

Is there a specific company service that lends well to this? Otherwise I do have access to a current generation production printer with a print server/engine for free minus the cost of whatever paper I would have to get for it which may be a boon.

Any help would be appreciated, I am not a professional or hobbyist photographer at all and rarely take photos myself but heres a shitty one I took with a phone camera.
