I'm a bit of a prude I guess, but I wouldn't do that at all unless we were committed, going steady. I wouldn't do that with someone I'm just dating. But that's me. If it was a portrait more like in the pic at the top of the thread, fully clothed and all that, then I'd be willing whenever she was.

Oh brother, certainly not on a first date, certainly not with you being the one to ask. If you're just dating, let her be the one to suggest it. You may have the most innocent of intentions, but she has no idea what you're planning to do with that portrait you want to take. Just take it slow and smooth, if she wants you to take her portrait she'll let you know.

In my experience like the other anon said just have a camera on you, open on a neck strap preferably. Actually that's a good tip for getting more portraits in general

Women are usually desperate for attention for a guy they like so if they're interested they'll ask for some pictures.
