>>4405789>>4405796I actually got some real Photo-flo to see if this would work (among other reasons). My understanding is that the anti-fungal part is just a property of it being a surfactant, but whatever...
I did some more experimentation since I wasn't happy with how aggressive dish soap was. I was using uncented, uncoloured soap, but I had no idea if this could have any long-term issue.
Anyway, rinsing and agitation doesn't help that much. It just clears off some dust that wouldn't blow off.
I tried:
1) Rinsing in distilled water: does barely anything
2) Rinsing in 99.9% IPA: also does barely anything
3) Microfibre glasses cloth with 99.9% IPA: I tried this because it doesn't soak into and soften the emulsion, it does help a little bit, but I guess doesn't losen anything stuck on.
4) Cloth with distilled water and a tiny amount of dish soap: works very well. Makes me nervous.
5) Cloth with just distilled water: Kinda works to remove the mould. One thing it doesn't do is remove marks where the glossy side has "stuck" to the glass slide mounts.
6) Cloth with more concentrated (i.e diluted 1:100 instead of the suggested 1:200) Photo-flo. I know this is not what Photo-flo is for, but it worked as well as the dish soap above, cleaning the mould, dust and marks.
