Anyone ever done service on one of these?

Canon FD 20mm F2.8 SSC. Just got one and it has an ever so slight amount of fungus around the periphery on the rear element. Wondering if it comes right out. I see to notches for a lens tool there so I suspect it is a straightforward process, if not I will just leave it as is.

Have you made sure it's not on the back of the rear element? Fungus can be pretty stubborn. Before you start taking anything apart you should be sure it necessary.

NTA, but how quickly can fungus grow? Like if it's an insignificant amount in an area which doesn't affect photos, surely it will continue to grow until it becomes a problem, right?

Fungus is killed extremely quickly by light. Leave it by a window with the caps off, the fungus will die. What is there wont go away, but it will stop it from growing. To prevent other lenses from growing fungus, store them caps off inside a clear airtight box with a moisture absorber inside. Fungus needs darkness and moisture to grow, doing this will ensure your lenses are stored in a well-lit, dry environment. Make sure to put the box near a window so light can get through the lenses. If you just bought this lens, its likely the fungus is already dead.

Actually, yes; it's not so bad. Just go slow and take lots of pictures.
