do you even understand how professional photographers operate?
like if you're working for a photography journal, which many of the photographers people idolise were, you are given an assignment (i.e. something your photography needs to say, convey or capture)
it doesn't have to be some grand artistic vision but what differentiates a good photographer from a snapshitter is the direction and purpose, which leads to better images
if you know what you want your image to say, you have a better idea of what you want to capture within the frame, meaning you don't end up with the slightly bland images posted at the top of this thread
i'm not trying to appear superior to anyone else, in taste or in intellect, it's just the way things are
i mean the reason college and university can be useful for a lot of people is because it gives assignments and guidance which help your projects stay focused, and usually more interesting
