>>4418484>The culture of reddit alienates people who aren't stupid and spiteful. If you go there and genuinely try to give good advice you'll see what I mean.I tried telling those retards how to not pay usurious prices for vintage lenses and got told that I was bragging, that I should have left those deals for people that "needed them more" and that I was exploiting people (by paying asking price). Even after elaborating they came up with all sorts of excuses, but it isn't complicated stuff we are talking about, quite basic such as buy in lots, look for new listings, search on smaller platforms, save searches, find cameras that are bundled with lenses etc.
In another instance a guy showed off the fruits of his constant search for lenses on facebook marketplace spanning over a couple of years which to me is interesting.. photos of all sorts of rare and exotic glass, but instead he got a whole lot of hate for being successful, the guy did everything by the book, contacted sellers early, paid upfront, took risks, learned how to disassemble and clean lenses etc and what does the redditors do? They started whining about not being able to afford stuff buhu woe to me and that he was the reason lenses are expensive. It was very little of the "WOW good for you OP" or "I should be looking into this myself" type of posts.
