Bonneville and pretty much everything SCTA does is very grassroots motorsport, you'll have big mega companies like Hyundai come out there with a car to attempt a record and they get clapped by Billy Bob Jo and Cleetus in their turbo 3rd-gen Camaro they built in their shed while getting shitfaced on Busch Light and listening to Kid Rock. It's a great time, and it doesn't end there, Wendover has a bunch of casinos and you're a stone's throw away from Ely, NV which has the Nevada Northern Railway Museum, get out there and do it, tomorrow isn't guaranteed.
Bonneville is the Holy Grail and absolute Mecca of motorsports. There is something for everyone, and anyone can compete, unlike Nascar and Formula 1 where only nepotism and a big bank account gets you in, there was a guy last year who built a 49cc French moped, front wheel drive, with a Temu supercharger on it and set his class record. There's no knocking sound below 2000rpm so the crank probably isn't trashed but I have spares and it will be off to Interprep in NY who specializes in the Mazda KL platform, they used to race them in SCCA Showroom Stock class and know these engines inside and out. It's getting there though.
