It's quadbayer, the pixels are for binning, they don't resolve more detail. it's a chunk of 2x2 red next to 2x2 green next to 2x2 blue.. it's impossible for them to resolve color at the full res just like it's impossible for bayer to fully resolve color, only quad bayer quadruples this inability
quite liteally a 24mp camera has more real resolution than a 48mp phone or even a 108mp phone
108mp phones are just 3x3 grids of pixels instead of 2x2, so it's 1/9th res, and it's
drumroll...
ALL 12 MP
in disguise
This isn't to say phones can't go higher, some do, and many were 16MP of genuine bayer res but their optics are worse than real cameras so they never win on IQ, just ease of use and carry ability.
