The D80 is considered the last good small CCD, if you want the real pro deal then the D2X is the best, D2Xs is supposedly a tiny bit better in general but it tweaked with the CFA and that means more muted colors.
D40 and D60 is what i hear hipsters buy, D200 as far as i know was the balance between good colors and small enough for women and homosexual wrists to handle.
