>>4429696Don't listen to these idiots on /p/ telling you to blow your cash on more camera then you need.
Don't spend more than $500 on your first camera and two lenses.
Get an affordable Nikon crop sensor like the D7100, 5200, 5300, ect. Preferably the D7100.
With the crop sensor Nikon get a 35mm f/1.8 G DX lens and an 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED IF VR.
This is all you need to get started. That's where you are, getting started.
This set of of lenses and body will allow you to shoot anything, anything at all. If you can't get it done with these lenses you can't get it done.
Save the rest of your cash to spend after you know what you enjoy about photography. Spend it after you know which direction or directions you will be going in photography. You may not even like photography. Why waste money finding out?
Why Nikon F mount DSLR crop sensor?
Affordable.
Huge lens selection dating back decades.
Great lenses for low prices.
Crop sensor because full frame is a waste of time and money for newbs.
Why these lenses?
Because it's a great place to start giving you a huge range of photographic options and enough to play with to figure out what different lenses can do.
Don't waste money on Sony. You don't have the budget for the good Sony gear so you'll end buying shitty overpriced low end Sony crap.
Don't waste money on mirrorless. Whatever you get in your budget mirrorless will be crap compared to Nikon F mount DSLR gear.
Also buy a book to study whatever camera body you get. David Busch's books are the best. They will teach you how to use the camera you buy amd give you a great rundown on the basics of photography.
