In fact, no one intelligent and skilled enough to implement AI masking wants to waste their time going near darktable's source code. That must be for a reason.
I have never seen a darktable user post a good photo. Even that german olympus memer posts better photos than darktable users and that is saying something. Every darktable user photo I have seen, even on darktables website, has absolutely horrible colors.
I posit that darktable is not able to produce good colors with a reasonable amount of effort and time because adobe and capture one start the user out with professionally created profiles which required calibrated reference monitors, consistent reference illuminants, proprietary color swatches, and high end colorimeters to create. Things darktable devs and users do not have access to. This may be related to why lens and body support is so spotty - darktable development just doesn't attract anyone skilled and smart. All the skilled and smart people are already using lightroom and capture one.
Prove me wrong.
