Which lens should I get?

I have a budget for a new RF 24-105/4 or an RF 28-70/2.8.
A third option could be the ancient EF 24-70/2.8 II.
I have no lenses right now, besides the RF 50mm and a Canon EF/RF adapter.

Anyways, if you insist on the bokeh, you insist on the bokeh, but the 24-105 offers more perspective control and f1.8 primes are cheap. A 35/85 f1.8 pair is a classic that does literally everything, with the 35 usually doing double duty as the travel lens you actually use.

Definitely the 24-105mm f4.
I use my 24-70mm f2.8 for work (events, weddings), but it is the 24-120mm f4 I always end up using on my own. It's just so much more versatile, as long as there's enough light.

Well, primes would also be an option...
I was considering getting the RF 35/1.8 macro and the EF 85/1.4L but I'm afraid that's not a very practical range for everyday use.

One thing that could be a deal breaker was the IQ of the RF 24-105 f/4 as I've read many negative reviews and lab results but I'm yet to test the lens myself to see if it's that bad and soft as they say.

It is a practical range for every day use. It's probably the most used pair of primes on earth. And if you buy the right primes, your camera is always smaller and lighter, at the cost of having to have the second lens in a backpack or something.

I have the 28-70 2.8. It's amazing. It really does rival L lense sharpness. Obviously having to extend it out of its base position into the 28mm spot to activate the lens sucks, but other than that there are no complaints. Having the extra range would be nice of course, but I still think having that 24(8)-70 range is important as soon as you can if your into everyday portrait photography. I also have heard that the 24-105 is soft, but haven't tested it myself. I just wanted to let you know you would not regret the product.

I have the Nikkor 24-120mm. I just assumed they would be relatively similar.
I went with just the 24-120mm for many years before I got the 24-70mm. And I still prefer the 24-120mm, but use the other one more during winter, when it's too dark.
