>>4439719I, for one, like taking things apart. I'm no electrical engineer, and old stuff is easier to reverse engineer and mod. Old manuals usually even have full circuit diagrams and maintenance guides. Plus, analog electronics have the benefit of being able to touch random wires together and it just does fun things. Plug your camera into a speaker? Sure! Filter your video signal through some guitar pedals? It just works.
Also, clarity is overrated. I've never really looked at a painting and thought to myself, "man, I wish this had less brushstrokes". I don't think photography should be any different. Why would I want my photos to look real? I want them to look like photos.
