>the sony looks crisperIt actually looks chunky and oversharpened. Lower resolution cameras tend to have that "chunky" look with detail they can't fully resolve. The sponge itself is soft, not sharp. Shoot a Z6II and Z7II side by side with a very detailed, soft object and the Z6II will render more hard and crisp, chunky edges than the Z7II. It's just what digital does.
Even though you are also witnessing an underappreciated aspect of pancake lenses (heavy vignetting throughout the aperture range) making it darker and harder to see, it's still a bit closer to reality.
