Otherwise no, photography is the opposite of escapism. 9/10 successful photographers are journalists whose career is founded on engaging with unpleasant reality. 9/10 hobby photographers are making records of people at places. It’s not escapism, it’a shutting the doors and windows and telling imagination to fuck off. It takes an overt effort to escape and lie through photography.
Painting on the other hand is inherently escapist.
