It's decent, but bulky and not very convenient, especially compared to RF 100-500.
It's reach advantage makes it more appropriate for stationary bird photography with a monopod or something.
The thing I've learned about fast-moving little birds is that it's all or nothing with them.
You either have to go like 1/800+ to properly freeze their movements, or as far down as you can to "fish" for those rare moments when they freeze up for a second or two observing their surroundings.
For the former you obviously need good lighting conditions, so I usually opt for the latter.
And any middle ground between the two options never really worked for me, in the end you still get a bunch of blurry photos, and the sharp ones are a lot noisier.
