>>4479621They're not fantastic no. If you need that level of weather sealing and also good IQ, your best options are:
>Nikonos VIts film so maybe thats not for you, but the lenses are sharp and the cameras are built well with user serviceable gaskets. The most durable camera I have used personally. Fully submersible down to 20 meters, though plenty of people take them deeper than that.
>Any DSLR with ikelite / aquatech housingI suggest looking for the housing first, and getting one used for a dated camera like a 5d mark 2 or D700 or something. The housings are expensive new but they hold value horribly and its possible to find good deals on them from time to time. These housings can be bulky though and they make the usage of buttons a little more difficult.
>Nikonos RSPretty much a meme, but I thought I'd mention it just in case its your sort of thing. Basically an SLR version of the Nikonos cameras, but they're film and they're really expensive.
>Piece of shit cameraInstead of buying something durable and good you could just get a piece of shit for little money that you dont care about, so you wont be worried if it gets broken. You could use a digicam, an old SLR, a cheap DSLR, depends on your budget and what price range you'd consider disposable.
Any of these options will give you better results than the olympus, even for a digicam the images are uniquely bad. There are plenty of other digicams with similar sensor sizes that aren't nearly that bad, it's a shame. Fujifilm and Pentax have also had a crack at the durable digicam niche, though i've never used them personally so I couldn't tell you if they're any better. I would doubt it, but maybe you could look into that if that interests you. Good luck anon.
