So since buying my used X-T4 in 2023 (where I switched from M43, Panasonic GX85 specifically), Fuji's trajectory has been retarded and basically instead of meaningful improvements like not having the worst autofocus in the industry, they keep putting out gimmick cameras with stupid bullshit like "film sim dials," replacing actual useful dials in the process--which is especially annoying when I manually edit any photo I'm proud of anyways. On top of that, their cameras and lenses are almost all more expensive than reasonable full frame equivalents at this point. I realized quickly that I thought the X-T ergonomics were dogshit so (on top of never using the slow and annoying retro-LARP dials) I added a Smallrig grip that made the whole thing the same size as typical FF bodies anyways. I also feel that there's something intrinsically unsatisfyingly "off" with x-trans output compared to bayer sensors I've used before.
Anyways, I realized Fuji basically exists now just to grift TikTok fags and they can support these practices because it works. I'm not their target audience. They don't care about value conscious hobbyists or professionals. There's not an upgrade path available with them that isn't more expensive than switching to another brand. Meanwhile, Nikon has been killing it with a huge comeback across their lineup and from what I've seen of them, the raws they produce seem the nicest to work with, their build quality averages the best, and their first party lenses mog the others too. Knowing all that, I decided to go in on Nikon's holiday sale (items purchased in picrel) and will be selling my Fuji and the handful of Sigma lenses I got for it.
How are my choices? Is this move based or cringe? What would be the most based next step from here?
