Before I post my MOTY, which I'm sure is an obvious pick to the regular visitors, I'm going to share some brief honorable mentions.

This match got me the most invested. As a match on its own, Inamura has wrestled far better, but just getting him back and seeing him win was incredible. One of my favorite wrestling moments of the year.

Yeah, same for me. I really, really did not like them when I saw them in GLEAT, and the matches I saw from them here and there as a team didn't convince me either. Something clicked with their tag team match against Suzuki and Sekimoto from the New Year War shows, and after that I've really enjoyed Jun. Suzuki's absolutely his best opponent in my eyes, and their rivalry this year was maybe my favorite of the year.

This is a tossup between NOAH's Daiki Odashima and NJPW's Katsuya Murashima for me. Their singles match from Tanahashi Jam was on my MOTY list for a good while, but ended up getting shifted out in favor of matches with higher stakes. If I had to pick one of these two, it would be Odashima, just because NOAH has let him go further in terms of booking. These two have been a joy to watch the entire year, and consistently one of my favorite parts of their respective promotions.

This is my last side category, and honestly, it's only here because I couldn't post my favorites of the year without highlighting just how blown away I was by Yuto's transformation from before his excursion. He was always my least favorite of his class, and in less than half a year he's convinced me that he's more than ready to be at the top of the company. As much as I like Oskar, and as much as I feel like he might still NEED a strong tag team to support him, Yuto might honestly be too much of a complete package to be just a tag team guy for much longer.

I'm sure this one was obvious. I've been unable to shut up about this match since it happened. Just incredible in every way, two of my favorites in NJPW wrestling a style and a match that only they could pull off right now. If I had my way, this match would dictate the style for NJPW for the coming 10 years. I can't praise it enough. A must-watch if you like grappling, storytelling or just good old-fashioned rasslin'. Oiwa's been in my top 2 both years since he graduated, and if he keeps getting better he's certainly staying there.

I honestly didn't watch it. I got my Takeshita fill in NJPW this year, and I honestly felt a good bit of fatigue from how he was booked. Shame, too, because he's near-objectively good.
