Seeing how these two are now working a main event angle and basically run RAW, it highlighted how stagnant Dom has been. What is he lacking to be break through that midcard ceiling and have meaningful storylines?
I think in term of character he's as polished as he'll ever be.

In a scathing rant on his latest podcast episode, former WWE superstar Ryback didn't hold back as he tore into John Cena's so-called "retirement run," labeling it a complete sham designed to milk fans for one last paycheck. Ryback, never one to mince words, accused Cena of phoning it in during his final appearances, claiming the 17-time world champion looked like a washed-up has-been who couldn't even muster the hustle that made him famous. >"Look. John is a man that bullied, harassed, and sabotaged myself and many others. [...] I truly think he may he a vindictive homosexual. Some of the shit he did was just beyond the pale." Ryback snarled. He went on to mock Cena's "Never Give Up" mantra as nothing more than empty hype, pointing out how Cena was an "abuser".
But Ryback saved his most venomous barbs for Cena's final match ever, where the self-proclaimed leader of the Cenation tapped out like a whimpering rookie to a pudgy old German man who looked more suited for a beer hall than a wrestling ring. >"How do you build your entire career on being unbreakable, then quit to some flabby old loser from Europe? It's pathetic—Cena's legacy is tarnished forever," Ryback fumed, emphasizing the humiliation of seeing the once-mighty Cena submit in front of a stunned crowd. >"Let it be known. John Cena sexually harrassed me and several other wrestlers. But before I get sued, let's get back to him tapping out like a pussy." He then ridiculed the moment as the ultimate expose of Cena's fraudulence, suggesting that fans who idolized him were duped by a guy who couldn't even go out on his shield, instead choosing to bow out in disgrace against an opponent who embodied everything Cena pretended not to be: over-the-hill and out of shape. Ryback's tirade has ignited backlash online, but he insists it's the harsh truth Cena's ego can't handle.
