He may have been bit goofy but the thick Brooklyn "brawla padna" accent really sold it. Every promo he did was golden in some way, you'd be sure that he'd be actually looking for a fight instead of just playing around - This is a major positive when you walk around people arguing about whether they are friends on the show or not, or spinning stupid stories like a gay twink not knowing if he's a entertainer or wrestler.
Scrappy doo wrestling style he has was never the best but it had some major appeal because it was different from ex-WWE dudes style and flip flop gymnasts around him. This has since deteriorated greatly and become comical with him refusing to relearn anything that looks like dog shit on camera. Nobody else watches his matches so why should he, I guess is the logic.
It started going really cold when Jericho got involved with him, naturally the momentum vampire latched onto him took the peak out of him with his botchy promos and shit feuds. Tony got mad because he punched Sammy or some shit and took him off the air for a long time so like many others, his peak was never capitalized.
Then in some baffling move, he got involved with all them Japanese ancients and decided he is gonna focus fellating strong style probably because he doesn't have to take as many bumps in a match and can spend time slapping each other - and even more baffling the japanese ate up that this fat hot dog magnet from Brooklyn is good enough to give belts to for some fucking reason.
