This was an odd attempt by WWE to get more heel heat on Rusev leading up to his Wrestlemania match against Cena by depriving the audience of the Ravishing Russian Lana. They dropped this angle immediately and Lana was back where she belonged like nothing had happened.
According to an article, Vince didn't like the actor who was cast in the role. If you watch the segment, commentary even buries him on television for bad acting. It's interesting to me that they must have had weeks of promos with this lawyer planned out (not written yet, but outlined) and it all got thrown away. Vince is always right by the way, the actor sucked.
