Take a look at stars from a million years ago, say Hogan. As far as I know his passion had been to be a musician, even though he was a big wrestling fan as well. He followed his music dreams before accidentally finding a way into the biz. Same thing with someone like Triple H for example.
Nowadays though, on one hand you have the turbofaggot nerds you just described, and on the other hand you have these washed up college athletes and most of them don't really give a shit about wrestling and just see it as a quick way to make a buck before going into something else. I know it's memed a lot on here but there's no way you're making it in the biz without being at least a bit of a mark for pro wrestling. But again, you need balance.
